The Anti-Illness

Evan's out biking in the dark on the Towpath Trail hosted by Century Cycle in Peninsula. Actually, by now he's finished with the Night Ride and is chatting with other bike enthusiasts at his favorite restaurant/bar: the Winking Lizard Tavern. Obviously, I'm not there. I'm busy feeling like I have the stomach flu, watching Cleveland beat Boston in the ALCS, and playing Sudoku with Hope.

First Born, know this: I love you despite the fact that you are a parasite making my hormones rebel against my own body. I love you even though my immune system has to be weakened so it doesn't expel you. I love you by eating food even when I never want to swallow another bite. Creating you was easy. Carrying you to term is a little more difficult. At least you give me an excuse not to clean up the cat litter, but we'll see how I feel when you diaper starts stinking. Chances are, I'm going to love you anyway. Better go take my prenatal multi-vitamin to prove it.
